Into the Fridge 💦
Amanda Chantal Bacon on bio-charging and really good tomato sauce
Amanda Chantal Bacon 💦
Amanda Chantal Bacon is the founder, alchemist, builder & brand visionary behind Moon Juice. After putting her own autoimmune condition into remission, she created the brand based on her belief in the healing power of food, herbs, daily rituals, and, as she says, her own intuition. She currently lives in Montecito with her husband and two kids. Amanda is without a doubt a pillar of modern day wellness, so it’s my great pleasure to have her on Into the Fridge.
What is your fridge philosophy?
I have a fridge fantasy (philosophy) and a fridge reality and there is a chasm that divides the two. My philosophy involves homemade almond milk and market herbs in a vase with water, my reality is more store bought hummus these days.
Your fridge is always always always stocked with ____.
Broccoli, fermented foods, eggs and a different type of milk for every person in the house.
Top 5 condiment picks, go.
Green hot sauce
Nama shoyu
EVOO
Maple syrup
Butter
Fine, I’ll open it up to pantry too. Let’s hear your favorite snacks / pantry staples:
Dulse, dark chocolate chips, dried jackfruit, instant espresso, sweet potatoes, noodles, a really good tomato sauce, rice vinegar, and heirloom beans.
A meal that’s on heavy rotation these days:
Chicken vegetable soup that I can make quickly. I make a broth from 6 bone-in chicken thighs, mirepoix + ginger and garlic. I pull the meat out and off the bone when just under cooked and then let the bones and veg keep going while I prep the rest. In a separate pot I sweat dice veggies—my go-tos are leeks, carrots, zucchini, green cabbage and more garlic. When the broth is done, I strain it, add it to the pot of sweated veggies and add the chicken meat. Bring to a simmer for a few minutes all together, salt to taste and then remove from heat. This will last a few days!
Let’s go a little deeper…
What’s the mantra you keep coming back to?
Be willing to die over and over again.
What products / practices are part of your regular mental wellness habits?
SuperYou in the AM, Magnesi-Om in the PM, 8 hours of sleep, reading on paper, relational repair, acupuncture, chanting, sex, learning, and prayer.
And your physical?
Walking in nature, bio-charging, lymphatic massage
What do think is the most underrated part of wellness?
Being mostly free of anxiety.
And overrated?
Living past 110.
Picture this: you wake up one morning and feel like shit. What’s your next move:
Depends on what kind of shit, but if I wake up feeling tired, low, uninspired—I will force myself to get sun in my eyes, move my body outside, skip caffeine, have a social interaction and listen to something mood altering.
I also take a fistful of vitamins and hydrate with trace minerals but I do this regardless of how I’m feeling every morning.
Give us your ride or die wellness products:
Sex Dust, Mini Dew, Cherry Sleepy Magnesi-om
One thing you do everyday that makes you the most YOU version of yourself:
Meditation (most days) and tuning into my kids no distractions
Whose taste inspires you?!
JB Blunk. He represents a vision I have of living a very simple and healthy life in 70s CA. Foraged herbs and mushrooms, fish and game from the land, vegetables from the garden. Minimal, rustic, purposeful, and close to the earth.
A huge thank you to Amanda for giving us a glimpse into her very magical life. She and Moon Juice are both great Instagram follows, and you can find her fridge favorites + more here.

Wait, so what’s that futuristic looking thing on the coffee table? I am so curious!
I look forward to your biocharging deep-dive. You are definitely the (wo)man for the job!
