I recently started working with a personal trainer and yes it’s already changing my whole life. Worth the investment! I had struggled with consistency and feeling intimidation about gyms and weight machines—all of that is long gone lol. I get amped whenever gym time rolls around. I am now a hardcore advocate for women learning resistance training. Also my trainer is cool and fun, there’s really nothing awkward about it (I do think you probably have to have sauce to be successful as a trainer)
Did an online search for trainer based-gyms first (all respect to the freelance equivalent of personal trainers hustling but as someone clumsy starting at ground zero this was my preferred angle) and then started reading the bios on their websites! I went with a gym where everyone has degrees in exercise science. Also trainer-based gyms have very few people on the floor at a time so there’s no waiting. (Eventually I will transition to a regular gym)
I suspect word of mouth recs would be very helpful for others. I’m in Philly personally so I’ll shout out The Summit
I saved so many items! I’m no trainer… but I love Abercrombie’s YPB athletic brand. I live in a rotation of the black leggings (own multiple pairs!) and joggers.
I invested in a personal trainer at the beginning of this year and it really is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I'm someone who's terrible at being accountable when it comes to workouts so having someone force me to show up to sessions, and then actually making those sessions so much easier (mentally) because they do all of the planning, counting, tracking, etc. is truly game-changing.
But what I really need to know is, for those of us who don't like to workout in just a bra, what tops are we wearing??

That last point is so true. Ok thank you for this! How did you go about finding yours?

Noted!! It’s cool when a big brand can successfully pull off activewear (Aritzia too)
