Very new to Deux but first thoughts is that it reminds me of those jars of slime you desperately want to eat (but mustn't)

I absolutely begged my mom to buy one for me after watching a commercial on Nickelodeon

This was an extremely satisfying read. I’ll probably never get a chance to try these because I’m allergic to mushrooms (another reason I roll my eyes at all these wellness brands… my kingdom for a wellness brand that doesn’t throw reishi/ lion’s mane dust into anything and everything!), but I’m feeling even less tempted now.

My biggest question though… the spelling?!

I assume it’s a play on “dough” but am I not the only one who keeps wanting to read it as “dew” or “duh”?

Thank you! Honestly, this whole time I couldn't stop saying "dew", and I've tried so hard to break the habit but I think it's too far gone

The trifecta was hilarious, sooo applicable. I wonder how large the doses are of the vitamins bc I can’t imagine a cookie would have enough vit b12 to compete with powders or supplements??

I simply cannot imagine fulfilling my daily vitamin D requirement, or even getting a useful dose, from this stuff

Stopped in my tracks that they blocked you. I’ve had my eyes on them since Shark Tank days but have never tried. Fantastic transparency per usual has convinced me to pass.🫢

Ohh! Here are some ideas of what products and companies to profile next: Sakara, Sweet Loren's, 'Tache, and Saie. I've followed (and eaten) Deux since 2021 and it's been interesting to see their evolution. If Lauryn Bosstick had a cookie dough company, it would be Deux -- touting empty promises about what eating this cookie dough can do ("packed with aloe vera for plumping beauty benefits" -- taken straight from Lauryn's testimonial on Deux's website). This cookie dough is not going to make your face plump, sry! And it's also really odd that Josh Richards is the first testimonial on their website... I can't believe their audience would care what he's eating??

I think they're in a bit of an identity crisis -- they started as a better-for-you cookie dough, but then got TikTok'd and Skinny Confidential'd. Personally (as an elder millenial of 37 LOL) I think Deux would have much more staying power if they leaned into the better-for-you cookie dough angle, leaned into the founder from a 'building-in-public' perspective, and made their collaborations permanent or at least seasonal.

Oh, and of the donut flavors, I think the chocolate one is the best. More moist than the classic glaze!

Love these recos!

Totally aligned with that. I think the building-in-public theme is fascinating to a large swath of people who happen to be their target demo, so keeping it going is smart. Also, YES to permanent collabs. Also I have to admit that I don't know who Josh Richards is...

I read the dazed article about wellness culture and found it so fascinating. For me, health anxiety feels so much bigger these days because of technology that allows us to constantly track, analyze, and optimize our bodies. I stopped wearing my Apple watch because I felt bad about myself whenever I didn't meet my move goal for the day, which is stupid. And I keep thinking about getting an Oura ring and then have to remind myself that I'm doing just fine without one, and if anything, it's only going to make me stressed when I get under eight hours of sleep.

Exactly! I wrote about the Oura ring specifically in one of my reviews, and my main takeaway was that we actually don't need to know all of this information about ourselves. Let's listen to our bodies! But on the other hand, I do think it's in the hands of the consumer (to some extent) to limit their intake of these devices that provoke their anxiety. Which, again, is part of knowing ourselves and listening to our bodies.

Right!! Daux would have made more sense (also a play on “faux”). Or just… not a fake “French”(? I’m assuming that’s where the name inspo came from bc wtf else would it be) product name would have also made more sense. Since there is nothing euro about their brand…
