Into the Fridge 🎀
Hailee Steinfeld on marinated artichokes and working out with her dad
Hailee Steinfeld 🎀
Hailee Steinfeld is an actor, singer, and the founder of Beau Society, a weekly newsletter now on Substack(!), where she shares moments from her life that don’t show up in press interviews—photos from her camera roll, recommendations, and intimate conversations with friends, family, and women she admires. She lives between her hometown of Los Angeles and Buffalo, New York, with her husband and two dogs, Martini and Brando. Please, join me in warmly welcoming Hailee to this week’s edition of Into the Fridge.
What is your fridge philosophy?
Your fridge is as much a reflection of you as any other part of your home. It reflects how you want to live. I like mine to feel fresh, balanced, and most of all, inviting.
Your fridge is always always always stocked with ____.
Top condiment picks, go.
I’m so not a condiment gal, but we always have:
Heinz ketchup
Hellmann’s mayo
Tapatío hot sauce (I don’t eat it, but we always have it)
French’s Classic Yellow Mustard
Daisy sour cream
Kikkoman soy sauce
Fine, I’ll open it up to pantry too. Let’s hear your favorite snacks / pantry staples:
We always have popcorn, just Orville Redenbacher
Marinated artichokes: we get these Italian classic marinated quartered artichokes from our local market
Peanut butter: I love a Skippy and a Jif, but also eat a lot of all-natural peanut butter
Honey: a friend recently gifted us honey from a local farm. I put it in my tea or in my go-to breakfast: peanut butter on toast with banana and honey.
A meal that’s on heavy rotation these days:
I’m making it tonight! It’s this chicken, artichoke, orzo dish.
Let’s go a little deeper…
What’s the mantra you keep coming back to?
What’s meant for you won’t miss you.
What products / practices are part of your regular mental wellness habits?
A 15-minute walk. The combination of being outside, getting fresh air, and getting some movement for a minimum of fifteen minutes always results in a boost in energy and a clearer mind.
And your physical?
Strength training and cardio. A few months ago, I wrote a newsletter about my fitness routine with my trainer…my dad!
What do think is the most underrated part of wellness?
Stillness.
And overrated?
Maximalism.
Picture this: you wake up one morning and feel like shit. What’s your next move:
It depends on how shitty I’m feeling…
Either I’m rolling over and trying to get more sleep, or I do what I have to try and shake it. That might be an easy, slow morning walk, sitting outside with the dogs and getting some fresh air, making a good, healthy, nutritious meal, and probably chugging a large glass of water.
Give us your ride or die wellness products:
Ice roller (it’s been a minute since I used one, but I do love them)
One thing you do everyday that makes you the most YOU version of yourself:
Two things: Work out and write.
The biggest thank you of all time to Hailee for sharing this glimpse into her very full fridge and life with us. You should be subscribed to Beau Society if you’re not already. Otherwise, follow her on Instagram or find her in a few of the best films of the past decade (Sinners, Spider-Man Into AND Across the Spider-Verse…). Find her fridge favorites and more here.
