Hi! A few people sent this over to me and as a sensitive soul, my heart started pounding in my chest as I read through this! Thank you so much for including Range and I couldn’t be happier that you enjoyed the class you tried! I absolutely understand what you meant about being nervous it would be “fluffy” because of peoples chosen words but the truth is…Range is filled with a bunch of humans, who write like poets, and have put their foot down against the toxicity of the movement industry! We work so hard on Range, just in a way that also feels like you’re receiving a big hug and taking a deep breath of fresh air while doing it! Thank you so much Katie, you have no idea how much I appreciate you including Range.

A common friend of ours who will remain anonymous dragged me to TA. As a stickler for form and efficiency, I have never hated a class more. Unnecessarily complicated choreography moves that don’t protect weaker muscles from injury. No instruction so you are constantly craning your head to see what your 20 year old dancer teacher is doing besides posing in the mirror….I walked out. As a health optimization coach that works with clients to change body composition for both aesthetics and metabolic health - this class is trash!!!

fun moves! i’ve been doing workouts at home since the pandemic and andrea is the first person who’s convinced me to actually enjoy working out and prioritize moving my body and getting stronger. She’s easygoing, informative, funny and the library of classes can grow with your movement journey ❤️

I loved reading this so much! I recently got into Range and continue to be surprised by how sore I get from a workout that is half horizontal. Def gonna give your girl Melly a try after reading this too. To add another to the mix, I love Erin Gilmore’s classes (she also has her own platform now). They’ve evolved from just yoga to her own hybrid that includes some pilates and other stuff and you can always count in them to be pretty hard/fast-paced/upbeat.

I was doing the Sculpt Society for about 3-4 months for a while but really only noticed a difference in my ass. I felt like she didn’t have enough focus on arms and abs but maybe it’s changed.

I love Sanne Vloet’s SoulSyncBody too! She has both Pilates in different levels and time periods, and really good weight workouts!

I recently started doing FORM workouts and I get a tad overwhelmed by the sheer amount of variety each morning (strength, Pilates, Pilates & strength, gym program, strength, body focus, train with Sami, train with brynley, train with Calyn, the jumpstart program, booty bootcamp, strong and sweaty, etc.) I understand it makes it more worth my money to have optionality, but I wonder if I’d be more motivated if I was given less options, and they really honed the specific workouts they offer. Needless to say, I’ve been doing the Pilates & strength combined (some moves are difficult) and will be continuing, but wonder if you think one of the many you mentioned might be a better option if mat Pilates and strength is the goal?🫶🏻

This totally makes sense! I think PYRO could be a good move if you’re not looking for classical Pilates but just Pilates esque

Thank you!! I guess my thinking was— if I can get the same results from Moves With Nicole or something similar, I wonder if I need to be killing myself in strange, difficult poses from FORM haha. I will check this one out!

So amazing to see Andrea here (she was my first personal trainer many moons ago 🥹) she is an awesome human 💕. I would also like to shout out ALL Studio’s digital studio…it’s traveled with me always and if you’re ever in Vancouver the studio and all the instructors are amazing!! https://watch.allmethodstudio.com

I LOL’ed at your Tracy review! I get that it’s not for everyone but it’s an amazing, fun workout and as someone who did Mysore style Ashtanga for 13 years , I hate to be instructed and really find that I can only get into the flow if no one is talking to me and telling me how to move. So, perhaps because of that background, I find the “lack of instruction” to be a key component of why it’s such an enjoyable workout. (There are also form breakdowns of the weekly mat workout, which really help to understand the mechanics of the choreography.)

Enjoyed this article across the board! (Tho special mention for Lia Bartha who I found to be a much better teacher and less irritating that MWH)

Agree!! I’m a devotee and her dance cardio content is like 0.0003% of the offering. It’s harder TA style sculpt with actual cues. Def been cheated with that 3 star score

I keep getting ads for The Class, very curious to try. I pay for a gym membership but I haven’t been in a month—I just feel burned out of it—so something online might be a good way to get more movement. As always you are doing the lords work with these reviews Katie.

Love this! Anyone have opinions re: prenatal online workouts? I’ve been doing Sculpt Society almost by default but am open to switching it up. I’ve heard good things about SOTO Method’s prenatal program… any intel?

I did peloton + sky ting when I was pregnant. Peloton you have to find the instructors who are pregnant (a quick google will give you a list with links to each class!)

This! I tried a prenatal strength app called Expecting and Empowered and it was good in theory but I ended up liking Peloton strength classes a lot more (and if you have a bike, the power zone classes are GREAT because they’re effort based, not strict cadence/resistance callouts). I didn’t find her until I was already a year+ postpartum but Kara Duval has really great content especially for postpartum reconnection to your body.

Also, for anyone interested, I’ve been doing Soto Method for a couple weeks now and really liking it. Actually cancelled my Sculpt Society subscription and switched entirely to Soto.

I haven't! I've just been doing the prenatal videos the founder filmed during her own pregnancy. She seems a little frazzled and out of breath in the same way I'm feeling right now (16 weeks) which is oddly comforting. Their newish studio looks great and packed, though. Please report back if you go!

I like “build and burn” for prenatal strength classes with weights. They have someone who’s pregnant doing it as the same week as you. They are pretty cheap. Two basic sisters from Florida, but effective! Also range.
